Moving tips are incredibly useful and can save you a lot of time and money. Below you will find helpful tips for moving that can be divided into 3 phases. The most important and first phase of moving is preparation.
Preparation can make or break your move. With good preparation, phase two becomes much easier, namely moving day itself. This phase is often stressful, but with the right planning, the move goes smoothly. The final phase is the aftermath of the move. Once your belongings are neatly in the room, unpacking, assembling, and furnishing the home begins. Here are the moving tips!
FASE 1: Preparation for the move

Moving Tip 1: Start Early
The first tip for moving is to start preparing for your move as early as possible. A move poorly prepared by the customer can cost extra time and money. So, start preparing early to avoid stress and unnecessary problems.
Moving Tip 2: Measurement
Tips on measuring can be very useful! Measure large items such as a couch, refrigerator, and table, and see if they can fit through the door. It can be very frustrating to find out later that it doesn't fit. It's also useful to know in advance whether you'll need a moving lift to transport items through the window. Also, think about where you'll place everything in the new house in advance. The layout may change, but plan where everything will go beforehand. Books are usually the heaviest items placed in moving boxes. You should place the books upright in the box, but make sure the box doesn't become too heavy. Large books like atlases or encyclopedias are best placed flat in the box. Another handy moving tip is to evenly distribute your books across other moving boxes to distribute the weight better.

It's best to pack plants on the day of the move. Keep in mind that you need to remove excess water from pots or vases. Smaller plants are best packed together in an open box. Larger plants go loose in the moving truck.

When transporting liquids, it's important to seal bottles of drinks tightly and completely. You certainly don't want to unpack and find everything covered in shampoo or that deliciously familiar soy sauce. Therefore, pack bottles separately or take a piece of foil and place it over the opening of the bottle with the regular cap on top. These moving tips help improve the packing process.

Cabinets and drawers should be as empty as possible during the move. You can leave light items in the drawers. When moving cabinets, it's best to wrap them in protective film. This prevents doors and drawers from opening during hauling.
Moving Tip 6: Washing Machine
One of the most important moving tips is to carefully prepare for moving a washing machine. The washing machine is connected to both electricity and water. Disconnect both connections the evening before you move. Before transporting the washing machine, it needs to be drained of water. There is often residual water in the system after using the washing machine.
To drain the residual water, tilt the washing machine slightly. There's usually a flap at the bottom with a filter behind it. Open the filter and let the water drain out slowly. Once the water is drained, you can replace the filter. A washing machine typically weighs between 80 and 100 kilograms. It's best to lift it with two people. You can choose to have your washing machine transported by Meubeltaxi or transport it in your own car. However, be aware that you risk damage to both the car and the washing machine if you choose the latter option.
Moving Tip 7: Refrigerator
The same applies to moving a refrigerator as in moving tip 6. Moving a refrigerator also requires careful preparation. Turn off the refrigerator the day before moving and clean it thoroughly. Empty the refrigerator completely and don't forget to remove the shelves and drawers. A refrigerator contains a coolant, so it's best to transport it upright. If you transport the refrigerator lying down or tilt it too much while lifting, the coolant can foam. This can cause problems with the motor or even lead to the refrigerator breaking down.
