How does the process of moving a piano work?
The preperation
First, both uprights of the piano are covered with a thick layer of moving blankets. This protects the floor when moving the piano away from the wall and ensures that the edges of the piano are protected when tilting it.
2. Placing it on the piano dolly
Then, we check if there's a humidifier tube or glass humidity jar still loose inside the piano. The piano is placed on a special piano dolly.
3. Wrapping the piano
Optionally, the piano can be wrapped. The piano receives a thick protective layer. This is especially advisable if the piano needs to be moved in difficult turns or situations.
4. The piano transport
The piano is ready to be loaded. In the vehicle, we cover the piano with moving blankets and secure it with straps. At the unloading address, the process is reversed to get the piano to its destination.

Can a piano be transported over the stairs?
No, we do not transport pianos over the stairs. This is far too heavy, dangerous, and not allowed under the ARBO law. In exceptional cases, transportation over the stairs may be possible; we assess the situation on a case-by-case basis.
Moving elevator
In this case, we use a lift service. The piano is then transported through the window or over the balcony. There are a total of 3 to 6 people needed to get the piano onto and off the lift, depending on the situation and the weight of the piano.
Electric stair climber
In some cases, it's also possible to use an electric stair climber. The staircase must be straight, and there must be enough space to move. The stair climber can handle a weight of up to 330 kilograms. Even thresholds or a few steps up to half a flight of stairs are not a problem. We can easily solve this with our technology.
Lifting crane
In some cases, a lift service is not sufficient. Then, a crane or special equipment is needed to transport it over an indoor staircase. The additional costs for using a crane are 600 euros including VAT.

The involvement of an additional assistant is possible starting from €75,-. Piano moving is always carried out with 2 people, so you can save costs by providing a strong helper yourself.

Our moving company operates in the Randstad area, where we carry out multiple piano transports on a weekly basis. For longer distances, it is sometimes possible to combine your piano transport with other trips to offer you a more cost-effective rate.
Our availability for the moving service naturally extends to all smaller intermediate locations. And if you need to transport something to or from a location outside our service area, we can do so without any call-out charges. If you reside outside our coverage area and wish to engage our services, this can be arranged upon request. We may charge call-out fees for this, but we'll discuss it beforehand.
